This week on Sunday Night Football, the clash between the only two franchises with six Super Bowls.

With the Pittsburgh Steelers first game of the 2019 NFL season nearing, what better time to discuss the expected outcome of the opening game against the only other team in football history with six Super Bowls, the New England Patriots.

This article will be the first of a thread predicting, and analyzing what will happen in every Pittsburgh game. All fourteen contributors at the Still Curtain will be participating in this weekly activity: giving me their predicted winners and scores each week. Now, let’s get started with my prediction.

Week One Prediction Overview

The Pittsburgh Steelers have a real test kicking off the 2019 season. They will be facing the Patriots in Foxborough fresh off a Super Bowl. Throughout the years it always seems like the Patriots have had the Steelers number, no matter the stadium they played in.

Last year, however, one of Pittsburgh’s bright spots in the 2018 season was actually defeating the Patriots week 15 at home. That week 15 win should be the reason the Steelers start the season 1-0. Not only does the team know they can compete with the Patriots, but they can defeat them as well.

Yes, this game is at Foxborough, but this is also a Steelers team who got better as a collective unit during the 2019 off-season. I find Pittsburgh has just a better overall roster than their opponent on Sunday. This will also be the Patriots first year without a particular Hall of Fame tight end after all.
