Steelers trade quarterback Josh Dobbs to the Jacksonville Jaguars

The Pittsburgh Steelers just traded third-year quarterback, Josh Dobbs, to the Jacksonville Jaguars. Here are the details from the trade.
The Steelers are a team that typically likes to keep three quarterbacks on their roster. Josh Dobbs opened training camp as the number two quarterback in Pittsburgh this year.
However, we witnessed former 2018 2nd round draft choice, Mason Rudolph, take a massive second-year leap. The former Oklahoma State quarterback was thoroughly impressive during the preseason this year, and he ultimately won the number two job behind Ben Roethlisberger.
Aditi Kinkabwala of NFL Network reported that there were whispers of the Steelers seeking a trade partner for Josh Dobs:
It looks as though their wish has been granted. Adam Schefter of ESPN recently broke the news that Josh Dobbs has officially been traded to the Jacksonville Jaguars:
In the deal, Pittsburgh receives a 2020 5th-round draft choice from the Jaguars in exchange for Josh Dobbs.
Dobbs looked fantastic during the 2018 preseason. He boosted his quarterback rating to 112.0 and had 5 total touchdowns to just 2 interceptions.
However, Dobbs suffered a bit of a setback this preseason. There were a few missed opportunities and several throws that helped lead to Mason Rudolph surpassing him on the depth chart.
Dobbs has proved to be a capable NFL backup quarterback. While he still has some things to work on, he could take the field in a pinch for Jacksonville, and maybe put up a fight with rookie Gardner Minshew if coaches are willing to utilize his skill set.
Decision making and accuracy may always hinder his upside, but Dobbs possesses rare mobility for the position and has the ability to gain first downs frequently with his legs.
Above all, Dobbs is of the highest character, and he will undoubtedly be missed by everyone in the organization. We wish him the best with his future in Jacksonville.
