In the NFL’s 100th season they matched the two 6 time Super Bowl winners New England Patriots and the Pittsburgh Steelers. The newly crowned champs New England are the most recent member of the club with the only other team being the Steelers.

The Steelers came into Gillette Stadium on a losing streak of 5 games. That kind of record can be difficult to break out of.  Sunday night was no different as the away team started flat and found themselves down early. The first quarter ended 0-7 as the Patriots pushed the away team around and did pretty much whatever they wanted.

There were some signs of life in the second quarter. The Steelers held the Pats to a FG with a red zone stop. The Defense had previously only been playing man to man then decided to run a zone coverage which created a stop and made the Patriots have to punt it away.

The Steelers could not get any extra yards on the night. The Patriots showed sure tackling and took the ball carries down almost instantly.

The end of the first half was 20 to 0 Patriots. I know it looked bad but there is another half of football to play. The Steelers could only generate one first down.

There seemed to be a spark of hope as a deep pass to James Washington connected and maybe that there might be a chance to come back. Alas, the hopeful energy only amounted to a FG. On the next drive by the Patriots, Phillip Dorsett was able to get open deep en route to a 58 yard TD.

The rest of the game was just a mash of mistakes and dominance by the home team. The final score ended up being 33-3 and was not even that close.

This game was a team effort of futility. NO ONE stood out so here are my 3 Steelers who didn’t totally suck in Sunday night’s 33-3 loss.
