TJ Watt

Turn down for Watt? The former first-round pick in 2017 started hot. He led a dominant opening effort by the Steelers defense.

Racking up 3 solo tackles, a sack, tackle for loss, and a forced fumble, TJ Watt sparked life into the defense early on. His forced fumble led to the Steelers’ first touchdown of the day–a much-needed boost in the afternoon. Even when he was not on the field, his impact was felt on a 37 yard Seahawks touch down run.

He has earned his role as a leader on the defense getting the green dot two weeks in a row. Unfortunately, this effort is overshadowed by an overall mediocre defensive performance.

The only knock one can have on Watt was his quiet second half. The Seahawks made their adjustments and kept him under control for the most part. This was felt as the Seahawks moved down the field at will on three straight drives.

Watt’s performance set the standard early on for the defense, but his teammates weren’t able to get the same production across the board. Make no mistake, however, his performances are well noted by his opponents and they are making all the necessary adjustments to negate him.
