After a gut-wrenching loss in the bay, the Steelers find themselves in a hole where only 3% of teams have lifted themselves from. Three players stood out in this loss that can build upon their performance.

Things aren’t looking good. Period. The end. After forcing a season-high 5 turnovers against the 49ers, the Steelers found new ways to lose. It was nauseating.

After forcing 4 first-half turnovers and limiting the 49ers to 3 first-half points, the defense collapsed. Allowing 21 points in the second half, the Steelers let opportunities to capitalize on a good team making mistakes… well… get stripped away.

The offense didn’t help their teammates on the opposite side. The Steelers defense was on the field for over 70 plays for a third consecutive week.

The root cause of this? It’s got to the point we have to question our offensive line. They were terrible. Awful.

They couldn’t get any push in the ground game–not that James Conner played particularly well. They got bullied by the 49ers rush. Have they lost motivation, ability, or skill? It’s not like Munchak has left that long ago.

This was an atrocious loss. I, a naive, optimistic, am starting to lose optimism. But if you know me, then you know I don’t give in to it often.

Despite a late fumble and defensive holding call that lost the Steelers the game, three players stood out in the disappointing finish.
