3 players who stood out in the win over the Bengals
By Dan Gilliam
Mason Rudolph
Mason Rudolph managed the game well. He looked good tonight keeping the game in front of him and not trying to force anything. He had time to throw in a pretty clean pocket.
The game plan I have talked about a few times in this article seemed to be tailor-made for him to make high percentage throws. It worked as when he did throw down the field it went for a score.
The stat line for the Steelers starting quarterback was nothing short of impressive. He threw 28 times and completed 24. That is a completion percentage of 85.7 percent. Rudolph had 229 yards and two touchdowns.
I think the most important stat is that he did not turn the ball over. He played within the game plan and did not try to make a play if it wasn’t there. He looked very confident and made strong throws.
I know this is only one game but this is the kind of game that you want to see if you are a Steelers fan. The first win of the season actually puts them only one game out of first place in the AFC North believe it or not.
I am not going to think too much of this victory except it is just that, a win. This is at least putting the Steelers on a better path than starting 0-4. If you really think about it the last two games were close. What if the Steelers won one or two? The season would look a LOT DIFFERENT at 2-2 or 4-1.
