Pittsburgh Steelers vs Los Angeles Chargers Picks: Why the Steelers coming away with a win is not far fetched
Week 6 prediction overview
Even without starting quarterback Mason Rudolph, who had to leave the game due to a helmet to helmet collision, the Pittsburgh Steelers competed and pushed the Ravens to their limit until the very end.
That is why I am optimistic this week when the Steelers take on the Chargers in Los Angeles. Pittsburgh is preparing for Devlin Hodges to start in this week’s contest. Hodges was brilliant in the relief of Rudolph last Sunday.
The Samford University alumni completed 7 out of 9 pass attempts and finished with a total of 68 passing yards. The stage was not too big for Hodges as he looked as confident as ever. Look for Hodges to minimize his mistakes this upcoming week, as well.
Los Angeles Chargers week 5 loss
Last week the Los Angeles Chargers showed just how vulnerable they are as the Denver Broncos defeated them at home in L.A. Coming into the AFC West matchup, the Broncos were win-less.
During week 5, the Chargers gave up 191 rushing yards. Denver kept the Los Angeles offense in check throughout the game, too, only giving up thirteen total points. Both areas are where the Pittsburgh Steelers need to win if they want a chance in week 6. Look for James Conner, and Benny Snell to dominate the ground this Sunday.
The Pittsburgh Steelers tenacious defense
The brightest spot throughout the Pittsburgh Steelers 1-4 start has no doubtingly been the entire defensive unit. So far, in the 2019 NFL season, the Steelers are ranked third overall in sacks, first in fumble recoveries, and third in interceptions.
This has been one of the most productive years for the Steelers defense in recent memory when it comes to producing turnovers. Their record so far this year does not reflect on what type of team Pittsburgh is. This is precisely what the Los Angeles Chargers coach Anthony Lynn went on to say during an interview this week.
The Los Angeles Chargers have only given up eleven sacks so far this season, but two starting offensive linemen out with injury the Pittsburgh Steelers should look to capitalize. Look for Stephon Tuitt and Cam Heyward to dominate throughout the course of the game. My prediction is both finish with 2.0 sacks each. With the pressure on the quarterback the whole game, this will force Phillip Rivers to make some throwing errors down the field, which will lead to a turnover or two.
