How will the roster look this week?
There is a report that the Black & Gold called up Paxton Lynch and Trey Edmunds from the practice squad and let go of Fred Johnson and Jayrone Elliott. Brooke Pryor of NFL Nation tweeted:
With Mason Rudolph officially ruled out, the Steelers have promoted PS QB Paxton Lynch. Team also promoted RB Trey Edmunds with Jaylen Samuels our.

Steelers waived OL Fred Johnson and LB Jayrone Elliott to make room.
These are moves that were made because of injuries. The Steelers brought Paxton Lynch to the roster to backup Devlin Hodges as Mason Rudolph is still recovering from a concussion. The Steelers called Trey Edmunds up to give the Steelers depth at running back. Jaylen Samuels will probably be out for a month with a shoulder injury.
It’s never good to see players get cut and unfortunately for Fred Johnson and Jayrone Elliott, and they are now on waivers. My guess is that Fred Johnson will be added to the practice squad if he clears waivers. Jayrone Elliott is not eligible for the practice squad, but he may be brought back again.
It will be interesting to see what the Steelers do with the extra practice squad spot. My best guess is that they bring in an outside linebacker from outside the organization.
