The Steelers go on the road and shocked the NFL world with their third-string quarterback. Steelers Nation took over Los Angeles to push the Steelers to victory.

Devlin “Duck” Hodge’s first NFL start was a memorable one. The duck calls in the crowd, the defense shutting down the Chargers early, and the return of Steelers football all made this game one to remember.

Al Michaels summed it up best. When the Steel Curtain have their backs against the wall, they respond with a physical, brutal attack.

The Chargers’ ground game was nonexistent. This meant a heavy dose of Philip Rivers in the passing game. Despite a late rally, he was feeling the rush all night long, which showed in River’s passing game.

Rivers might not have been put on the ground often, but he felt the heat. The Chargers through 3 quarters only managed 3 points. Despite injuries piling up before and during the game, the Steelers held on when it counted.

The offense simply did enough to win. That’s all they needed from them. Converting turnovers into points and chewing up the clock. Benny Snell and Conner pounded the Chargers into submission with over 120 yards rushing.

Devlin Hodges was just what he needed to be. He was effective and played complementary football to the ground game. Despite a questionable throw that led to an interception (sparking a Chargers rally), he played a solid game.

At the end of the day, Pittsburgh got a much-needed win and go into the bye week at a perfect time. They are banged up, coming off a big success, but aren’t dead yet…

Next. Experts overwhelmingly like Los Angeles over Pittsburgh in prime time. dark
