Steelers positional report card after win vs. Los Angeles Chargers
By Tommy Jaggi
Wide receiver: C-
It was not a very impressive evening or the Steelers wide receiver group, but it wasn’t all their fault. Pittsburgh got off to a comfortable lead early, and Hodges didn’t often need to air it out. When he did, however, he chose to throw to running backs and tight ends more than his group of receivers. JuJu Smith-Schuster and Diontae Johnson combined for 3 catches and 25 yards.
Tight end: B-
It was hard to find a reason to complain about the tight ends in this game. Both Nick Vannett and Vance McDonald did most of their work as blockers. The two tight ends combined to catch the only two passes thrown their direction in Los Angeles.
Offensive line: B+
As has been the case all season, this unit has been fantastic at protecting the quarterback. Devlin Hodges was practically untouched the whole game, and he never took a sack. However, this group is creating a whole lot of space on the ground. The Steelers rushing attack combined for just 3.4 yards per carry on 36 attempts.
