There is a chance the Steelers could deal one of their cornerbacks before the October 29th trade deadline. Here’s why Artie Burns is a legitimate trade candidate.

I’ll be the first to admit that I play out trade scenarios in my head as the NFL trade deadline draws near. The Steelers made a trade earlier this season to acquire former 1st round draft choice, Minkah Fitzpatrick.

Now they could be on the opposite end of the deal. There have been whispers since before the start of the season that 2018 1st round pick Artie Burns could be traded. While it seems a deal for Burns is unlikely to get done before the October 29th trade deadline, there are many reasons why trading away Burns would make sense.

Here are five legitimate reasons the Steelers could attempt to deal Artie burns before the deadline:

Teams lacking cornerback depth

There are dozens of teams who are riddled with injuries in the secondary and are looking for solutions to stop the bleeding. While Burns certainly isn’t a top-notch player like Jalen Ramsey or Marcus Peters, who were recently dealt, It’s entirely possible that he could be an improvement over some of the players currently out there.

Artie Burns had two solid seasons to start his career. He posted PFF overall grades of 68.3 and 72.4 in 2016 and 2017, respectively. Teams could be willing to shot on him and hope he revitalizes his NFL career with a new organization.
