Steelers front 7 vs Colts offensive line

Two years ago the Colts offensive line was so bad they were the reason Andrew Luck missed the 2017 season. They were easily the team’s weakest link.

Now? They are a force to be reckoned with allowing only 11 sacks this season and creating nearly 130 yards rushing a game.

On the opposite side of the line, the Steelers have easily one of the best front 7’s in the game. With TJ Watt and Bud on the edge with Bush, Williams, Heyward, and Hargrave locking down the middle, the Steelers have created havoc for opposing offenses.

A big reason for the 19 turnovers created is the consistent pressure; reeling in 24 sacks in only 7 games. The one weakness the Steelers have had is when teams can generate a running game against them.

The Colts will look to physically overpower Pittsburgh’s front seven. One advantage the Steelers hold over the Colts offensive line is experience.

With 4 of their 5 starters having 5 years or less, their squad is a relatively inexperienced one. Pittsburgh enjoys throwing blitzes and forcing pressure. Giving these young bucks unfamiliar looks could be devastating.

This game will ultimately come down to the trenches on both sides of the ball for the Steelers. Indianapolis would love nothing more than to expose any weakness they can find in an improving Steelers defense.
