What’s going to happen at running back?

The Steelers have a lot of injuries at running back. It was believed there was a good chance that James Conner would play against the Rams. Now he is listed as out according to the injury report.

The Steelers will also be without Benny Snell Jr. He was expected to be out at the beginning of the week. The good news is that Trey Edmunds is going to play.

The Steelers do have three running backs who will be active on Sunday. Jaylen Samuels will start and he will be backed up by Trey Edmunds. Tony Brooks-James will add depth at the position and the hope is that he can be a change of pace back.

I am happy that Trey Edmunds is going to play for a couple of reasons. For one, he is a good special teams player. But the Steelers also need gameday roster depth at running back. It looked at some points in the week like the Steelers would have to just roll with Jaylen Samuels and Tony Brooks-James at running back.

It looks like the Steelers won’t have to call up Darin Hall to the roster and that is good news because he has been on the practice squad for only a few weeks and was let go at the beginning of the week only to be brought back.
