The Pittsburgh Steelers came into the game on a three-game win streak and looking to keep their momentum going. The Los Angeles Rams presented a tough challenge, but the Steelers fought through it for the win 17-12.

The Steelers sat at 4-4 entering the game with a tough opponent in the defending NFC champion Los Angeles Rams. The defense played very well, limiting the Rams’ play-makers and keeping the team in the game throughout.

The offense gave up the lead right away as a snap sailed over Mason Rudolph‘s head, and Dante Fowler returned it for a touchdown. The early 7-0 hole eventually evaporated as the Steelers tied the game on a Rudolph pass to James Washington to tie it up.

Late in the second quarter, Javon Hargrave barreled into the backfield and put a hit on Jared Goff. The hit resulted in a forced fumble which bounced right to Minkah Fitzpatrick, who returned it for a touchdown to put the Steelers ahead at the half 14-7.

The offense struggled in the second half to get anything going. Drops galore and penalties all game really made the defense have to work even harder than they already were in the game and through this season.

The Steelers had every opportunity to put the game away, but they could not sustain drives and make the big plays necessary. It has been a long time since they could rely on their defense to keep them in games, and they did just that.
