2. Minkah Fitzpatrick

Minkah Fitzpatrick landing in my top two spots of players we should be the most thankful for shouldn’t surprise anyone out there. While a lot of credit goes to the Steelers front office for pulling the trigger on a move that was highly debated at the time, Fitzpatrick proved himself to be worth the first-round pick they surrendered and more.

Since joining the Steelers, Minkah has been perhaps the best defensive playmaker in the NFL – earning 5 interceptions, 8 pass defenses, 1 forced fumble, 2 fumble recoveries, and 2 defensive touchdowns.

Never in my lifetime have the Steelers brought in a defender that was able to help his football team like this in his very first season on a new squad. Fitzpatrick is the player in the back end of the defense that Pittsburgh had been searching for ever since Troy Polamalu retired.

The safety just turned 23-years old, and there are no doubt greater things in store. I am thankful for Minkah Fitzpatrick’s ability to resurrect this defense in 2019.
