The Steelers nearly blew two separate 10-point leads against the Cardinals but held on to secure victory and to keep the ‘winning’ train rolling

Again, I have to proclaim, “What a game”!  The Steelers jumped out to an early 10 point lead that seemed tenuous at times, but the defense hunkered down and the offense, again, did enough to secure victory, to keep the ‘winning’ train rolling and to defeat the Cardinals by a score of 23-17.

At this point in the season, a win is the most important stat and that is exactly the stat that we earned against the Cardinals.  It was not a perfect game, as, quite frankly, very few games are perfect, but it was game the Steelers had to win if we wanted to keep the ‘winning’ train on the tracks. Not only did the Steelers keep said ‘winning’ train on the tracks for another week, but we also kept our playoff hopes alive in the process.

I realize the season is not over as we still have three games on the slate, but I think it’s encouraging that, despite the inexplicable and inexcusable fake punt call that directly resulted in a TD for the Cardinals, which cut the then 10 point lead to a 3 point lead, the Steelers were able to endure and came out on top.

Look, I am all for being aggressive and for doing whatever it takes to win, but there is a time and a place for everything; that was neither the time nor the place to call a fake punt with your punter attempting to run for a first down.

According to the official website of the Steelers, the fake punt was called off but Jordan Berry did not hear the call.  If you want to listen to the explanation, click on the following link and progress to the 28-second mark:  Fake Punt Called Off

Fortunately, it did not cost us the game, so water under the bridge.  Now, let’s take a look at how the offense performed.
