Our writers are back with their weekly predictions, for the Pittsburgh Steelers (8-6) looking to redeem themselves against the New York Jets (5-9).

Though the weather is looking to be around the low-40s come game-time, the energy from fans should be immaculate & the Terrible Towels will be ready. A matchup that dates back to 1970, the Pittsburgh Steelers have more than dominated the series between the two, leading 20-5.

Headlines will have fun with puns and metaphors as this will mark the first time New York Jets RB Le’ Veon Bell sets to play against his former team. However, struggling on the year, his time against Pittsburgh will be no easier as they enter MetLife Stadium among the best in stopping runners by the attempt.

Perhaps, while the focus remains there, one who may need this week the most is QB Devlin Hodges. Starting to gain respect when dealing with lesser opponents, although the spectrum was on the opposite end with a Bills secondary, the rookie appeared as a rookie and one that surely went undrafted.

A 3 point favorite heading into Sunday kickoff at 1:00 PM ET on CBS, here’s what our writers had to say for the upcoming game.

Writers’ Recap

Much like the outcome, the Still Curtain team didn’t do well as a whole mainly hoping for an upset last week. As only 3 of our contributors predicted Pittsburgh falling short to the Bills, we return in week 16 with a common ideal for the Jets.

Predictions & Explanations

“The Steelers are in desperate need of a win to keep their playoff hopes alive, and what better time to get one than against the New York Jets. However, with Pittsburgh’s struggles on offense lately, this road game won’t be easy. Still, I think Pittsburgh take care of business and inch one step closer to the playoffs this week” – Tommy Jaggi (Steelers 20-17)

“After struggling last week it’ll be a return to normalcy for this group. Strong defense and a conservative offense. Expect a boring and close game” – Ryan Pawloski (Steelers 17-13)

“The Steelers are in the middle of a playoff hunt and will be out for blood. Pittsburgh will also want to make a statement against Le’Veon Bell. Look for the Steelers to come out like gangbusters” – Edward Hunt (Steelers 24-14)

”Will Duck Hodges again have to run for his life or have time to scan his targets and throw. Call me a fool, but I’m banking on Tomlin and Fichtner to do a better job after being schooled by Sean McDermott” – James Perry Kelly (Steelers 20-13)

”The Steelers will be anxious to take out the frustration of losing a winnable game thanks to 5 turnovers in a game that the defense gave them every opportunity to win. The Jets are down on their luck and this game is a must-win for Pittsburgh. The offense will make up for its lackluster showing last week and take care of the ball in a win” – Brandon Kring (Steelers 23-10)

”Jets are a tough team despite their record. It won’t be easy as an incompetent OC leads the Pittsburgh’s offense and exposes their young quarterback(s)” – Jobe Morrison (Steelers 17-16)

“Coming off a loss, expect the Steelers to come out as ready as ever. With the playoffs on the line, I anticipate Pittsburgh to dominate throughout the contest” – Christian Brown (Steelers 24-20)

”Steelers take on a struggling 5 win Jets team and win pretty handily. Pittsburgh’s defense dominates” – Chris Halling (Steelers 24-3)

Steelers Can Clinch Playoffs One of Two Ways. dark. Next

”It’s hard not to say “the defense will dominate, the should lead the way for the victory”, but against a Jets offense that is 28th in points & 31st in yards, it’s hard to think differently. Plus a defense that doesn’t pose much of a threat, Pittsburgh’s offense should be able to be enough” – Jordan Newman (Steelers 20-10)
