Who would replace Decastro?

I think that the replacement for Decastro would be in-house. I think the Steelers should sign BJ Finney to a three-year contract when he becomes a free agent to be the right guard. He has answered the call for them before when asked to play guard.

I acknowledge that the offensive line would take a hit, but the Steelers have done a great job drafting and developing offensive linemen. Look no further than Chris Hubbard, Matt Feiler, and Ramon Foster as guys the Steelers have been able to develop with little investment.

There is also an emotional piece to this. Finney will be a free agent and has been loyal to the Steelers in his career. He has stayed on the practice squad when he could have been signed to other teams. He was a Steelers fan growing up and was emotional when the Steelers signed him as an undrafted free agent. His Dad was a Steelers fan.

I guess that BJ Finney would give the hometown discount to the Steelers to be their right guard. It is about time he got a chance to start.

The draft will have to fix some of this issue

If Pittsburgh makes this move, they will need to replenish the interior of their offensive line. I think they should double-dip in the draft for some center/guard types. I like some of the talent that I see in this draft at guard.

This is a move that is looking ahead to the offseason but this type of move could put the Steelers in a good position in 2020. They will have a good defensive front four and will have Minkah Fitzpatrick. They also could get their first-round draft pick beck by trading Decastro.

Next. Devlin Hodges isn’t the long-term answer for the Steelers. dark

To add to that, Pittsburgh will have Ben Roethlisberger back in 2020 and that should bode well for the Steelers. There is also some good wide receiver talent in this draft and that could be an opportunity to upgrade a young receiving core which has been the Achilles heel in 2019.
