Nick Vannett: Medium Priority

Vannett was a solid trade acquisition during the season this year. With Vance McDonald struggling and banged-up at times, the Steelers needed another option at tight end who could help out in the run game.

With major question marks at the tight end position, I expect Pittsburgh to look to extend Vannett this offseason. The sad truth is that Vance McDonald could be a cap casualty due to his $14.2 million he is set to receive over the next two seasons and the small amount of dead money they would owe by cutting him. However, a restructure is possible as well.

Mike Hilton: Medium Priority

Hilton has been an excellent player for the Steelers who seems to never get injured. However, with so many investments into the secondary as of late, it will be interesting to see whether or not Pittsburgh will offer him an extension this offseason.

Cornerbacks Joe Haden and Steven Nelson are pulling in good money, and there is currently very little to go around. Also, Cameron Sutton has been excellent when called upon, and it’s possible that Pittsburgh could ask him to step into Hilton’s role if he does not return next year.
