Artie Burns: Low Priority

Davis’s draft mate, Artie Burns, is in the same boat. Though he was a former 1st round pick from 2016, Burns has fallen out of favor with the coaching staff. In addition, Steven Nelson turned out to be an excellent signing.

Even if Mike Hilton doesn’t return to the team, Cameron Sutton and rookie 3rd round pick, Justin Layne provide the depth Pittsburgh needs. I’ll be shocked if Burns is back on more than a veteran minimum contract, but he will be playing somewhere else next year.

Tyler Matakevich: Low Priority

Mark Barron could be a cut this offseason due to his unreasonable contract number. While Matakevich offers a veteran presence who knows what he’s doing on special teams, the Steelers can find ways to replace him.

That being said, there probably aren’t a lot of teams out there who would value his services as much as the Steelers do. My bet is they will look to retain him on a cheap deal.
