Get Younger on the interior of the offensive line

The Black & Gold have an opportunity to get younger at the left guard position. Ramon Foster is 34 years old. I don’t think he has been terrible but I don’t think he has been as good either. The Steelers can save $4 million by cutting Ramon Foster according to Over the Cap.

Those four million dollars will give the Steelers money to sign BJ Finney who has been decent when called upon. He might be a better long-term option at left guard than center. He will still have that skillset in a pinch as well.

Cutting Foster will mean the Steelers will have to double-dip on Day Three in terms of interior linemen. They will need a mid-round center/guard to be the first backup on the interior. I also would like to see them draft another lineman in the seventh round as they have had success doing that in the past.

Not only are the aging on the interior of the offensive line, but they also lost some younger players. Patrick Morris and Fred Johnson were both claimed off waivers and both showed promise. It might be good to add a seventh-round guy or a priority undrafted free agent to round out the depth.
