Conclusion

I hit the major points of what I would like to see this offseason from the Steelers. With some things going their way, they could be a playoff-caliber team in August. It will take some maneuvering from the front office and luck to get this team to where they need to be.

Getting Ben Roethlisberger back is a must. Mason Rudolph and Devlin Hodges showed this season that they are more destined to be career backups. I think Ben will recover from this elbow problem and hope this season and offseason will give that elbow the rest it needs.

Keeping Bud Dupree is paramount. I can’t believe I am saying that but he proved to be the edge rusher they wanted in the first round. I criticized the Steelers for picking up Bud Dupree’s fifth-year option but it has paid off.

I also think some players are deserving of extensions. I think those players are Cameron Heyward and Alejandro Villanueva. I think the Steelers should wait a year to see what happens with other guys like Juju Smith-Schuster and James Conner.

Drafting a wide receiver would be great and the usual Day Two pick up would help them. They have done this consistently in the past but this offseason it is more important.

I think they also need to get younger on the offensive line. The interior is getting older and they are lacking in depth.

I think if they do these five things then it will be a successful offseason. Stay tuned on Still Curtain for all the happenings.
