The Steelers have several holes to fill and will need to reload in the 2020 draft

The Steelers season ended rather unceremoniously via an 18 point loss to our division rival, the Baltimore Ravens.  It was a game in which the offense just could not get any traction whatsoever and the defense, uncharacteristically, gave up over 200 yards on the ground.

With the regular season now behind us, the Steelers turn their attention toward the impending NFL draft.  Full disclosure:  This article will not be a ‘mock draft’ type of article; it will; however, be an article where we discuss the Steeler’s biggest positions of need and how those positions may affect our draft philosophy.

While I certainly would have liked to still be rooting for a Steelers victory, alas, it was not meant to be. The offseason is upon us and it commences with the draft.  So how do the Steelers replenish the coffers, so to speak, in the 2020 draft?  Well, the simple answer is this:  We draft players whom we believe will help us win more than 8 games during the 2020 season so that we can feel good about improving upon the win total from 2019.

Replenishing the coffers, however, is not about ‘feeling good’; it’s about drafting well, something that the Steelers, quite frankly, have not done with much consistently in recent drafts.  Back-to-back seasons without a playoff appearance compels the Steelers to look at every position to determine the best course of action in the draft.

Let’s take a look at the biggest positions of need for the Steelers as we march toward the 2020 NFL draft.
