3 Offensive prospects the Steelers should target at 49
Trey Adams
The former Washington Left Tackle has been a mainstay along the Washington ever since he entered college. He hankered down the Left Tackle spot for the 2016 Washington team, that unexpectedly made the college football playoff. At one point, Adams was expected to be a surefire first-round selection. Unfortunately, injuries have been a problem with Adams.
In the 2017 season, midway through the year, Adams regrettably tore his ACL. Any football fan knows that tearing your ACL is a devastating injury. It will take a lot to come back, but luckily in this day and age, it is not a death sentence. Many players come back from that injury and continue to play at a high level.
For example, Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson, has torn his ACL twice and is still playing beyond well. However, this was not the only injury Adams dealt with. In the 2018 season, Adams hurt his back and was forced to miss 10 games. Luckily, Adams was able to return to action and play the rest of the season, including in the Pac-12 championship game in which Washington won.
While these injuries may concern you, Adams has overcome and continued to play well at the collegiate level. He has much-needed experience of playing in big games and that does not go unnoticed. The 6’8′ 314-pound tackle, has the length and athleticism many players at his position would love to have.
If drafted, Adams does not need to come in and play right away. He can learn from the current offensive lineman on the roster and develop his skill properly thus, leading him to eventually take over the Left Tackle spot.
