Austin Jackson

Along with the previously mentioned Trey Adams,  USC tackle Austin Jackson would be another good option for the Steelers to consider at 49. Jackson, faced some very tough competition this year and got a taste of going up against some high-quality edge rushers.

This season, Jackson was handed the challenge of blocking players such as A.J. Epenesa and Julian Okwara of Notre Dame 1-1. Both of those players are likely going to be Day 1 picks, with Epenesa likely going in the top 15. While those players gave Jackson some headaches, it was a good experience for when he eventually takes his place along an NFL offensive line.

Jackson is still an extremely young and raw player. Jackson is only 20 years old meaning that he has a lot more room to grow as a player and refine his technique. Coming to the Steelers, who have had high-quality offensive line play, would be a perfect fit for him to hone his craft.

Size and athleticism are not an issue for Jackson. He was a 5-star recruit coming out of High School. He excelled in basketball and Track and field to go along with Football. The 6’6″ 310-pound tackle has the ability to make blocks out in space and can move very well in his pass sets.

Jackson, displayed his high ceiling with his performance against the then #23 team in the country Stanford, when he was named Pac-12 offensive lineman of the week. If a team can teach him how to use his technique on a weekly basis rather than solely rely on his size, Jackson has the talent to become a very successful NFL tackle.
