Antoine Winfield Jr.

Terrell Edmunds has been a huge disappointment ever since the Steelers controversially drafted him 28th overall in the 2018 draft. In two seasons, Edmunds has played well below average of a first-round pick, and has not shown any signs of improvement.

According to Pro Football Focus, Edmunds has had grades of 63.7 and 63.6. That’s consistently bad with no signs of progression. He was ranked as the 58th safety this year and had a coverage grade of 58.3.

Being the last line of defense in the secondary, you want to have confidence that your safety will have your back and make a play when needed. That has not been the case with Edmunds. He has had only 1 interception in his career and that came in his rookie season.

With a defense so talented, replacing him would be a huge boost and complete the unit top to bottom. Antoine Winfield Jr. is one heck of a player and would be a good replacement to Edmunds.

The former Minnesota safety, finished this past season 7 interceptions (one of which he returned for a touchdown), which was good for 4th in the FBS. To go along with Winfield’s coverage ability, he also had 3 sacks displaying his ability to be moved around along the defense. Adding a playmaker of Winfield’s ability would be a great addition to the defense.

Anyone of these players would be worthwhile selections for the Steelers. They would provide immediate and future impact that will help the team sustain success for years to come.
