4th Round (from Miami) Ben Bredeson

Interior offensive line, Michigan

Drafting a player like Ben Bredeson kills two birds with one stone. Yes, he may be able to serve as the backup interior swing lineman if Pittsburgh elects to let B.J. Finney walk in free agency, but he also provides youth to an aging position. Ramon Foster is 34 years old, and this could be his last season in the NFL. Bredeson’s game isn’t without its flaws, but he has prototype size for the position and enough tools to develop into a starting guard in the NFL.

4th Round: Jonathan Garvin

Edge defender, Miami

Anthony Chickillo is set to make over $6 million this season, and I would have to imagine the Steelers would have something to say about that. Whether Chickillo is released or not, Pittsburgh could certainly use some competition in this area. At 6’4” and 250 pounds, Jonathan Garvin has excellent size for the position and an NFL-ready body. Though he currently doesn’t have much of a plan as a pass rusher and his effort is occasionally lacking, he has the size and physical traits to develop into a solid rotational edge rusher for an NFL team.
