Steelers draft: 5 second round prospects who are perfects fits in Pittsburgh
By Tommy Jaggi
Clyde Edwards-Helaire, RB LSU
LSU was loaded with talent this season, and with players like Joe Burrow and Justin Jefferson on offense, running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire often gets talked about less. However, that doesn’t mean he wouldn’t be a terrific player for the Steelers.
Edwards-Helaire has an incredible combination of speed, quickness, power, vision, and contact balance, and it would not surprise me at all if he turns out to be the best running back in this draft class. James Conner is entering the final year of his rookie deal, and with his injury history, it will be hard to justify giving him a rich, new deal.
Though he’s only listed at 5’8”, he’s 209 pounds and packs a punch on impact. Edwards-Helaire has the makings of a feature back and doesn’t have any red flags with injuries or otherwise.
It’s certainly possible that all of these players are off the board by the time Pittsburgh picks at 49. However, if the Steelers get a chance to draft one of these players, there should be no hesitation.
