Lloyd Cushenberry

Over the past couple of years, the Steelers have been fortunate enough to have had some of the most consistent offensive line play. However, if this past season showed us anything, you can’t stop father time.

Alejandro Villanueva, Maurice Pouncey, and Ramon Foster are all in their early-mid 30s and showing significant signs of slowing down. Adding a young lineman should be a priority for General Manager Kevin Colbert during this off-season. LSU lineman Lloyd Cushenberry should be under serious consideration.

Cushenberry would not have to come in and make an immediate impact. He could sit and learn behind the vets on the roster, helping him hone his craft to better the future of the franchise.

Cushenberry anchored one of the best lines in college football. He helped the Tigers become one of the most dominant offenses the NCAA has seen in recent memory. The Tigers could not be stopped whether it was in the run or pass game.

Granted that LSU’s offense was filled with NFL caliber talent, the offensive line was the foundation for the success of the team. If the Steelers can snag a player of Cushenberry’s prowess, the Offensive Line will be set for years to come.
