LB Anfernee Jennings

Every NFL roster has these type of guys and quite frankly needs them. They aren’t the superstars or the ones that barely squeak by, but the best way to describe them is consistent. When we think of consistency too, our minds immediately go to the extremes of good & bad, but this model of consistency is appreciated among that player’s fans. Just solid, high IQ players that can get their job done.

The University of Alabama is generally thought of as this under head coach Nick Saban from every level of the roster, but if there was a certain individual that truly exhibited this quality, it was EDGE Anfernee Jennings. Also not participating in the combine like Uche, Jennings will still be available for the on-field position drills.

Not the most athletic or productive, if Jennings could hold the mantle over anybody in this class it would be at batting passes down.

Still, his positional flexibility ranging from a hand-in-the-dirt rusher to an MLB is something willing to bet on as a quality pick. Steadily improving as the years passed & his playing time increased, Jennings ended his senior season with career-highs in tackles (83) & sacks (8), though he dipped down slightly with TFL (-0.5) & PD (-6) from his junior year.

This is no beat on Jennings, but the ceiling doesn’t appear to be high for him. Although he’s limited as a pass-rusher in his explosiveness & bend, don’t bet on Jennings making many mistakes on the field.

A very sound player that understands what’s happening around him, it’s why he can still be effective despite the constraints. Also, he works his hands very well & uses his length for his advantage.

The attention to technique & detail is something you wish others had, but Jennings does. The embodiment of how the Roll Tide are represented, Jennings has a well-built frame at 6’2, 256 & possesses a skill set that could fit in nicely for Dupree and the Steelers.
