The Steelers brass was on hand in Indianapolis for the 2020 NFL Combine, and we were able to learn more about their interests. Here’s my post-Combine mock draft.

The 2020 NFL Combine is now over, and die-hard NFL fans are left with a lot of homework. While many prospects underperformed in measured drills, others posted insane numbers. The Steelers met with just twelve players at the Combine, according to Walter Football, and some of the positions they focused on may surprise you.

To the surprise of many, Pittsburgh used a majority of their Combine visits to meet with four defensive backs. These prospects that included players like Cameron Danzlter and Jaylon Johnson ranged anywhere from early day two picks to late day three selections.

While Combine meetings certainly don’t tell the whole tale, we can get a much clearer picture of the Pittsburgh’s interest at the Combine. In addition to meeting with a handful of defensive backs, the Steelers had meetings with two running backs, two offensive linemen, and two edge rushers.

Surprisingly, they met with just one wide receiver (TCU’s Jalen Reagor) and one tight end (Missouri’s Albert Okwuegbunam). These are both positions that have been frequently mocked to the Steelers with their first pick in the second round.

Amazing performances by players like running back Jonathan Taylor or receiver Denzel Mims could potentially push their landing spot ahead of the Steelers, while others could slip in the draft with poor performances or failing to perform at all.

It’s too early to tell exactly which direction the Steelers will go in the NFL Draft this April, but here’s my seven-round mock draft after what we learned from the Combine:
