Tight ends the Steelers should draft and avoid in 2020

Tight Ends that I don’t like
There is one tight end that I think is overrated in this draft and it’s Adam Trautman. Many think he is a first-round talent but I think you would be crazy to take him on day one of the draft.
The thing that concerns me about Trautman is his route running. Modern tight ends are expected to be more receivers than blockers. There is no doubt in my mind that Trautman can block at the next level.
Another tight end the Steelers should stay away from is Mitchell Wilcox from South Florida. There are many concerns I have about him. For one, he didn’t look very good in drills at the NFL combine. Also, he needs to get stronger as a blocker. Third, he struggles to come up with 50-50 balls. Those things translate to a tight end that I don’t think will be successful in the NFL.
There is another tight end that is a huge risk at this point. Because of his 40-time at the combine and his height, Albert Ogwuegbunam may be a day-two pick. I have concerns about his tape though. As Coach Tomlin says, it’s football, not a track meet.
His struggles on tape that concern me are his run blocking and his route running. He is raw in both of those areas. The problem is that another team is going to be intrigued by his measurables and that is why the Steelers should focus their draft capital elsewhere.
Even with the addition of Ebron, the Steelers could still use a young tight end and there are some solid options later in this draft. I think going with someone like Harrison Bryant makes sense.
I do have my concerns and I would be disappointed if the Steelers wasted a pick on someone like Albert Ogwuegbunam or Mitchell Wilcox.
The draft will not have as much fanfare with the Coronavirus and the government policy of social distancing. However, it is important that the Steelers get good players so that when the season starts; so, we can put viruses behind us and look forward to a young and talented Steelers team.
