6th round, 198th overall

L’Jarius Sneed, CB, Louisiana Tech

While CB maybe one of the deepest positions on the roster, the Steelers still have a “hole” left by Artie Burns leaving this offseason. They could target a late-round option as a developmental guy considering they technically have a roster spot open at the position. As well, after years of having shallow depth at the CB position, investing to preserve the newfound depth makes sense.

L’Jarius Sneed has good size and tested very well at the combine (something that the Steelers like in their DB’s). While his only shot at playing time is on special teams, he has the athleticism to succeed there. While he is raw in coverage, he would be put in a position to learn behind Joe Haden and Steven Nelson, potentially being a defensive contributor a few years down the road.
