WR Ryan Switzer

Ryan Switzer was an excellent player at North Carolina – I’ll give him that. However, he has been downright awful for the Steelers.

Pittsburgh traded for Switzer just before the 2018 season. While he offered up a modest 7.0 yards per reception and 8.4 yards per punt return in his first season with the Steelers, those numbers plummeted in 2019.

Last year, Switzer was among the most inefficient wide receivers and return men in the league – averaging just 3.4 yards per reception and 3.6 yards per punt return. In addition, his 18.4 yards per kick return was embarrassing for a guy who was supposedly brought on to be a return specialist.

Switzer has been a failed experiment, and it’s time for him to go. He should be one of the most replaceable players on the roster this offseason. If Pittsburgh somehow decides to keep him around in 2020, he better regain his rookie status of a great return man, because he does little on offense to justify a roster spot.
