Jordan Dangerfield

Jordan Dangerfield is a hard-hitting camp body, but has really never developed into anything more. While I love an underdog story as much as the next fan, I think he has overstayed his welcome.

The Steelers recently brought back Dangerfield on a one-year deal, but his spot on the roster should be far from secure. If it wasn’t for a severe lack of quality depth at the safety position over the past several years, Dangerfield likely would have been long gone by now.

Dangerfield is a 29-year-old safety with three starts in his career. Though he does offer a solid, veteran presence on special teams, it’s hard to believe Pittsburgh hasn’t found a better option at the safety position.

Though he earned 71 percent of special teams snaps in 2019, he played just 1 percent of defensive snaps, and is never called upon unless there is an injury. Dangerfield was a fun, fiery player to watch at camp over the years, but his tenure in Pittsburgh should be coming to an end soon – assuming the Steelers can find a competent safety in the draft or free agency.
