Wide Receivers

Last year, the wide receiver corp left much to be desired. A good chunk of this cookie can be written off due to inconsistent quarterback play. I personally pin the blame on having an inept offensive coordinator and their inability to develop raw talent–but I digress.

As it currently stands, the biggest spot of competition looks to be between Deon Cain and Ryan Switzer. Sprinkle in the opposite spot from Juju between Diontae Johnson and James Washington, and the training camp and preseason battle will have a competition to watch.

However, make no mistake Juju’s down season will surely push him as well. What better way could he be pushed is a fresh talent coming in to not just take the number 2 spot, but also the future lead spot.

Juju is poised for a big bounce back. The return of his Hall of Fame quarterback, additions in the coaching staff to support Randy Fichtner, and a new WR coach in Ike Hilliard will benefit him tremendously.

If Colbert and company take one of their earlier picks on a wide receiver, it will create all the more battles going into the 2020 season.
