Offensive Line

There is a lot of uncertainty on the offensive line. Not only did their 10-year starter retire, but they also lost his groomed replacement in free agency.

Luckily, the Steelers got a home town fella with some championship experience in the door with the signing of former Penn State Nittany Lion Stefen Wisniewski. In addition, they retained Matt Feiler and the Steel City’s favorite eligible receiver in Zach Banner.

With these additions and retainings, there is plenty of competition to be had. The only locks on the O-Line are the blindside tackle, center, and right guard. The other two are wide open.

It feels almost inevitable the Steelers will take a draft selection on an offensive lineman. How early in their scarce draft pick order? That will remain to be seen.

If they take an offensive lineman in the second or third year, it could create some serious intrigue for the Steelers 2020 offensive line projection. It remains to see, however, if Shaun Sarrett can develop a young offensive lineman.

He’s a film room junkie, sure, but can he apply this to his mixture of veterans and fresh blood upcoming? We’ll see come August.
