Safety

Surprised? Don’t be. This could be a sleeper spot the Steelers address early in the draft.

Sure, there is confidence in the growth of Terrell Edmunds and even how they can use him in the defensive scheme.

After Minkah Fitzpatrick saw his free safety turnovers dwindle (since teams quit throwing his way) he expressed wanting to resume moving around on defense–much like a comparison to Troy Polamalu.

What could this do? Well, if the Steelers continue to use a lot of sub-packages–which they will–this could create room for a lot of creativity to put Fitzpatrick in position to be around the ball.

The addition of a safety early on could also mean competition for field time for not only Edmunds but also Cameron Sutton; who was used as a versatile corner and safety.

The bottom line for this potential battle is it will create a battle for spots on the field over the course of the season. If the Steelers can get a steal at the safety position in the second round, they will surely see playtime grow exponentially.
