Offensive tackle, St. John’s

The Steelers don’t often look for small school players this early in the NFL Draft, but perhaps they will make an exception for St. John’s offensive tackle, Ben Bartch. The 2020 draft class is loaded with outstanding offensive tackle products, and despite his small-school status, Bartch is a player who would likely be a second-round draft choice most years.

Though he didn’t do any testing at the Combine, his tape speaks for itself. Bartch is a former tight end who added 70 pounds to play left tackle in college. He possesses quick feet off the snap and is fundamentally sound.

Bartch also has solid size metrics for the position. Though his arms (32 7/8”) are just under the 33” threshold many teams look for, he is 6’6” and 309 pounds with room to grow. Bartch is a solid developmental left tackle product with good film. He could compete for a backup job in year one, and eventually look to take over for Alejandro Villanueva at left tackle.
