6th round: Gage Cervenka

Interior offensive line, Clemson

The Steelers have had success with developing offensive linemen in the later rounds of the draft. Kelvin Beachum was a 7th round pick who proved to be an excellent pass protecting left tackle for Pittsburgh, while Alejandro Villanueva, Ramon Foster, Matt Feiler, and B.J. Finney were all undrafted free agents.

Cervenka may be a redshirt senior who wasn’t the best offensive lineman on his own team, but there is still a lot to like. For starters, he has a powerful 6’3”, 325-pound frame and it shows up on tape. From a size standpoint, he compares favorably to Ramon Foster.

Cervenka also showed his strength with 44 bench reps of 225 pounds this past summer, according to The Draft Network. Cervenka is still new to the position, and he has a lot of work to do to clean up his mechanics. Still, he’s worth taking a shot on at this point in the draft.
