7th round: Lavert Hill

Cornerback, Michigan

Mike Tomlin drafted three players from the state of Michigan last season, and two of them were from Michigan University. Whatever his fathom is with the school, it’s not hard to project a player like Lavert Hill to the Steelers at this point in the draft.

Though Hill may be off the board before this pick, he would present great value to Pittsburgh. Hill is undersized for the cornerback position at 5’10” with 30 7/8” arms, and he projects as a nickel corner at the next level.

Fortunately, that may be what the Steelers are looking for anyway. Mike Hilton received a second-round tender this year, but he could be signing with another team in 2021. Cam Sutton is still under contract, but the Steelers need another player who could potentially take over slot duties in the future. Hill has an outside chance to be that guy.

The NFL Draft is quickly approaching, and the Steelers still have a lot of work to do to get ready. This mock draft certainly isn’t the most exciting I’ve done, but these are all realistic picks the Steelers could make this April.
