Phillip Lindsay (Denver Broncos)

Despite Phillip Lindsay being one of the most productive running backs in the NFL during the last two seasons, the Broncos went out and signed Melvin Gordon this year.

Gordon’s arrival doesn’t necessarily mean Denver is looking to get rid of Lindsay. But it will likely lead to a reduced role for Lindsay and this could end up resulting in him wanting the Broncos to send him elsewhere.

If Denver is actually considering a possible trade for the 25-year-old running back this year, then the Steelers should be one of the teams interested.

During the last two seasons, Lindsay has rushed for over 2,000 yards, caught 70 passes, and scored a total of 17 touchdowns. At 5-foot-9 and 190 pounds he’s not the ideal size for an every-down back, but he’s proven during the last two years that his size isn’t too much of a factor in him being successful or not.

It’s possible that the Broncos would be willing to part ways with Lindsay this offseason in exchange for a second-round draft pick. If this is the case then Pittsburgh needs to strongly consider sending this year’s second-round selection to Denver in order to acquire the running back.
