7th round: Jon Runyan

Offensive line, Michigan

John Runyan may have just an outside shot to make Pittburgh’s roster, but there are several reasons I could see the Steelers taking a shot at him late in the draft. For starters, they always seem to have their eyes on players from Michigan. It also doesn’t hurt that he has impressive NFL bloodlines (his father was a Pro Bowler in the NFL).

Runyan was an offensive tackle for the Wolverines, but may need to kick inside at the next level due to a lack of overall athleticism for the position. Still, Runyan is a very smart football player who could work in just about any scheme. He is unlikely to ever become a starter at the NFL level, but could provide quality depth across the offensive line if everything works out.

Next. Steelers could be targeting a running back in 3rd round of the NFL Draft. dark

In previous mocks, I have had the Steelers landing a cornerback or an inside linebacker in the draft. However, with limited picks to go around, there are a few things Pittsburgh will be forced to ignore this year in the draft. Stay tuned for changes as we draw near to the 2020 NFL Draft.
