Lack of Draft Picks

The Steelers have six picks in the 2020 Draft. The earliest pick being number 49 in the second round. There is a big talent drop off after Herbert is selected – which will be in the top-10 picks, most likely. The Steelers simply have too many holes to fill to waste one of six picks on another project at quarterback.

ESPN’s Todd McShay did a two-round Mock draft recently that had Jacob Eason falling to the Steelers at pick 49. This scenario is not out of the question along with guys like Jalen Hurts possibly lingering around at 49 as well. However, the Steelers have a much bigger need to add talent around their current quarterback.

The Steelers will likely listen to offers to trade their 49th pick for more draft capital. A lot of that will depend on who is left on the board. Pittsburgh would probably like to trade that pick away if Eason is on the board rather than to take a quarterback.

dark. Next. Free Agency moves the Steelers should have made this year

Having needs for depth all across the offensive line, running back, receiver, safety, and interior defensive line will not bode well for any more quarterback moves. If they do not make a trade, they will only have six picks to try to hit on a few young contributors.
