After a rather hectic first couple weeks of free agency, the free agency period has begun to slow down. That being said, there is still plenty of talented players left available that the Steelers could take a look at.

The Steelers were able to add some key additions early on in free agency. Noting that they weren’t going to be big spenders, the team came away with some valued additions that will have big contributions to the team. Despite this, there are still plenty of talented players left available that the Steelers should certainly look at.

Not to break any hearts but, no, Jadeveon Clowney is not on this list. Although he has supposedly “lowered his asking price”, he is still going to command so much more than the Steelers can dish out. However, one name that should seriously interest the Steelers is former Cardinals and Giants edge rusher, Markus Golden.

Markus Golden

Understandably, Bud Dupree was franchise tagged this off-season however, a team can never have too many pass rushers. On a 1 year prove-it deal this past season, Golden has more than exceeded expectations.

Golden finished the season with 72 total tackles, 10 sacks, and 1 fumble recovery, which he returned 42 yards for a touchdown against the New England Patriots. On what was one of the worst defenses in the NFL last season, Golden consistently made his presence known. He was the only player on the defense that continually made plays throughout the season.

While Golden was certainly expecting his market to be much larger at the start of free agency, he is most likely looking at another 1-year deal. This is the perfect opportunity for the Steelers to come in and steal a very talented player off the market.

Golden isn’t the only player left on the market that should interest the Steelers. Former Panthers safety, Eric Reid would be another fine signing for the team.
