6th round: Tanner Muse

Safety/linebacker, Clemson

There are more than enough reasons to believe that the Steelers will have some level of interest in Tanner Muse. The massive safety has the versatility to drop down to linebacker in sub-packages and with 4.41 speed at 6’2” and 227 pounds, who wouldn’t be interested at this point in the draft?

Muse could end up being drafted much higher because of his athletic profile, but he may need a position change in the NFL. Though he was knocked for tight hips and average instincts, Muse offers plenty of upside that make him worth the gamble.

Even if the Steelers draft Anfernee Jennings, they could still use an inside linebacker, as they lost both Tyler Matakevich and Mark Barron this offseason. Mike Tomlin and Kevin Colbert were both on hand at Clemson’s Pro Day, so expect Muse to be on their radar in day three.
