Can’t miss prospects the Steelers must draft at pick 49

The Steelers are prime candidates to seek a trade back in this draft, but if the right player falls, the team shouldn’t hesitate to draft them.

With the NFL draft almost upon us, much speculation has been made about what the Steelers will do at pick 49. While a multitude of options has been suggested as fits for the Steelers, even more speculation has been made if they might trade back or not. Considering the lack of draft picks in this upcoming draft, a trade back would be ideal as it would set the team up in a better position to fill the team’s needs.

While the value of trading back this year is immense, there may be some prospects that, if they fall to pick 49, would present more value than almost any realistic trade scenario. That isn’t as much of a testament to the Steelers needing a particular player to fall to them as much as it says how truly valuable some options are beyond the first round of the draft.

While I am personally in favor of finding a trade back for the Steelers, these players prove to be exceptions to the rule. If any of these players find their way to the Steelers, it would be hard to imagine a trade package providing more value than one of these players. Their fit with the team and long-term upside far outweigh any other options that may present themselves to the Steelers via trade back.
