Steelers Mock Draft: Adding talent and depth across the board
By Andrew Falce
UDFA’s:
- Derek Adams, P, Kent St.
- Eli Hanback, DE, Virginia
- Austin Hall, S/LB, Memphis
- Ladarius Hamilton, OLB, North Texas
- Freddie Swain, WR, Florida
- Simon Stepaniak, IOL, Indiana
- Charlie Woerner, TE, Georgia
- Quez Watkins, WR, Southern Miss
- Deejay Dallas, RB, Miami
- Shaun Bradley, ILB, Temple
Not going to break down every name here, as any of them landing here is a longshot. What this list shows is what the Steelers should be looking for in their UDFAs. Deejay Dallas is a decent scatback who can stay in and block. He would enter the battle for the number three back, and he needs to show that he is more dynamic than Jaylen Samuels.
Austin Hall had a virtual meeting with the Steelers and fits that hybrid role like Hudson. Freddie Swain is more of a slot option while Quez Watkins is an athletic freak on the outside. Simon Stepaniak is a mauler similar to B.J. Finney. Shaun Bradley is an athletic special teams option for special teams. Charlie Woerner has been my pre-draft crush for a while due to his stout blocking.
I feel like this mock targets a lot of obvious needs for the Steelers, as the early rounders are set to play early on offense while the later round guys add depth on the defense with long term value. The biggest issue is not addressing NT until the 6th round but considering the Steelers can scheme an NT out of the defense. We’ll see in a few days how accurate this mock draft is.
