Could a defensive player be the first pick of 2020?

Adam Patrick talked about how the Steelers might be looking offense this year, but if a defensive stud falls to them they should jump all over it.

Grant Delpit is a star and has had a great career at LSU. His last year was his weakest, but he has shown the ability to do a lot of things as a safety. I also love his instincts. I think if he fell to the Steelers, he could take over the strong safety role and have Terrell Edmunds only be asked to come in on dime situations.

The Bleacher Report raised some questions about Grant Delpit’s tackling. I understand that you have to perform when you are out there, but it could be because of injury. If it weren’t for his high ankle sprain, he would have gone on Day one of the draft.

Other good players are still on the board. Senior Bowl stud Zach Baun is still there and could become a good inside linebacker for the Steelers. Obviously, they just took Devin Bush but you always have to draft the best player available.

Another guy to not forget is Trevon Diggs. I thought he was a good cover corner at Alabama. He very well could take over for Joe Haden who is on the wrong side of 30.
