The verdict:

This is actually a much tougher comparison than I expected. Bradshaw has the rings. Roethlisberger has a huge advantage when it comes to stats. Each has epic playoff and Super Bowl moments under their belts. Both players have losses that should probably have been W’s.

At the end of the day, I had no clear data point to reference as the item that tipped the scales.

Instead, I went with the same reasoning that has led multitudes to proclaim Tom Brady as the NFL GOAT at the position. The player who came up biggest in the biggest games and their most critical moments had to be the best.

So, for me, Terry Bradshaw is still the greatest QB to put on a Steelers uniform. This says nothing about what I think of Ben’s game. He’s going to the pro football Hall of Fame, and rightfully so. Perhaps he’ll win a couple more and will be MVP in those games, at which point I’ll be happy to reopen the discussion. Until then, Mr. Bradshaw, kudos sir.
